It was less than two weeks ago when the Rockets routed LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers by 34 points in what became the fourth win of Houston’s stunning six-game streak.
The Lakers, however, were without Anthony Davis in that game, which was played within the friendly confines of Toyota Center. In Sunday’s rematch, Davis is expected to play at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and that streak by the Rockets is now history after Friday’s close loss in that same building to the Clippers.
In postgame comments, head coach Ime Udoka and veteran guard Fred VanVleet each expressed regret regarding late-game execution, which was likely a point of emphasis at Saturday’s practice.
As for the Lakers, they’ve won four of five since that night in Houston, and the hosts would love to get some revenge on Sunday.
