Queues formed down the street on Monday evening for indie rock band Pale Waves' intimate show and signing promoting their new album Unwanted. The four-piece from Manchester, fronted by Heather Baron-Gracie, and inspired by the likes of Paramore and Wolf Alice, played to a sold-out Bristol crowd at Rough Trade in the city centre.
Queues formed inside the venue as eager fans, goth-like Gen Zs with checkerboard jeans and mesh tops, awaited entry to Rough Trade's intimate hidden live music room tucked round a corner at the back of the store. After the gig, queues then formed, again, as fans lined up for an hour to meet the band for an album signing.
What was expected to be an evening of Pale Waves' grunge-laced pop-rock melodies ended up being an evening of queues. Band members, vocalist Heather Baron-Gracie and guitarist Hugo Silvani, only played five songs in a short set for a sweaty audience on one of the hottest days of the year, some of whom had queued since 10am.
