Robert Lewandowski gives cryptic transfer update as Bayern Munich get Sadio Mane boost

Robert Lewandowski has vowed to give more information on his transfer to Barcelona "soon."

The 33-year-old has confirmed that he will not sign a new contract with Bayern Munich, who want to bring in Liverpool star Sadio Mane to offset his impending departure. Lewandowski revealed his desire to leave on the final day of the Bundesliga season, as LaLiga giants Barcelona quickly made him their priority ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now enjoying some time off before international duty with Poland, the striker was spotted at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday and Sky Germany were able to quiz him on his hotly-debated future. "The time will come to give information." Lewandowski replied in cryptic fashion. "Soon it will be possible to say more."

The prolific Pole has scored 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern but wants a new challenge after eight years in Bavaria. Lewandowski's contract expires in June 2023, meaning that the German behemoths would lose him for free next summer if they refused to sell him to Barcelona over the coming months.

Bayern would reportedly accept a bid of €40million (£33.9m) for the master marksman, who has his heart set on a move to the Camp Nou after agreeing personal terms and a three-year deal. The Bundesliga champions are understandably reluctant to let Lewandowski leave but hope that Mane can replace some of his output.

The Senegal international, who also boasts one more year on his contract, has already told his teammates that he wants to leave Anfield this summer. Earlier this week, Mane promised to confirm his future after the Champions League final and an official announcement is expected shortly, as Liverpool lost 1-0 to Real Madrid on Saturday.

"Come back to me on Saturday and I will give you the best answer you want to hear, for sure," the forward declared when asked about the prospect of agreeing a new deal. "It's special. I will give you all you want to hear then."

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp refused to get drawn into speculation in the lead-up to his side's defeat, saying: "This is the wrong time to talk about that. Wherever Sadio will play next season he will be a big player, definitely. Sadio is in the shape of his life, for sure. Brilliant shape, it is a joy to watch him. We ask of him a lot this season, football asks of him a lot — lot of finals.

"I couldn't care less in the moment," Klopp went on. "No concerns, it's completely normal. It's not the first time in my career that before a game rumours about Bayern Munich come up, but no problem at all."
