Lanarkshire motorists are facing delays and disruption as the A8 eastbound carriageway will be closed for four nights over the next couple of weeks.
The carriageway between the Bargeddie roundabout (A89) and the Carnbroe junction off slip road will be shut from 8pm until 6am the following day on July 27 and 28 and August 2 and 3.
The closure is for essential carriageway resurfacing works and, as a result, the following slip roads will also be shut:
- A8 eastbound Bargeddie Junction off slip road (Showcase Cinema).
- A8 eastbound Bargeddie Junction on slip road (Showcase Cinema).
- A8 eastbound Shawhead Junction off slip road.
- A8 eastbound Shawhead Junction on slip road.
- A8 eastbound Carnbroe Junction off slip road.
The road closures have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic and signed diversion routes will be in place.
These works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership (SRP) on behalf of Transport Scotland to "maintain the integrity and safety of this route" and have been planned in consultation with Police Scotland, Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council and the emergency services.
Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
If you have any enquiries regarding these works, contact SRP on 0800 042 0188 or via email.
