Rio Ferdinand has hit back at critics of the 2012/13 Manchester United title winners and insisted it was his favourite Premier League triumph.
The defender won six league honours at Old Trafford, with the final one coming in 2013 in Sir Alex Ferguson's final campaign as manager. United had surrendered the trophy to Manchester City the previous year but bounced back by winning the league with 89 points, 11 ahead of their city neighbours.
Ferdinand enjoyed that Premier League win most due to scepticism around the team and his own performances. He felt that he answered his critics and the win was extra special as it was Ferguson's last before retirement.

"The last one with Sir Alex, because it was his last one as well and it was such a big moment," Ferdinand said. "That title meant the most because a lot of people had doubted me going into that season.
"There was talk about me maybe going to Spurs and I had a lot of injuries around that time as well. Then we had that season and I played a lot of games.
"I got into the Premier League Team of the Season that year and we won the league. Everyone says: 'Oh, it was the worst team that Sir Alex Ferguson had that won the league'.
"Bad teams don’t win Premier Leagues. That team knew how to grind and fight, and could finish teams off."
United won 28 of their 38 league games that season, losing only five times. They scored 86 goals in the process with Robin van Persie finishing as the top-scorer with 26 league goals.
