Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott has the “arrogance” to go right to the very top of the game.
The youngster - signed from Fulham in 2019 - sparkled on-loan with Blackburn Rovers a couple of seasons ago before returning to Anfield. Elliott began to make an impact last term but saw his development halted by a horrendous injury suffered against Leeds United.
He has not let that harm his development though and the young midfielder has once again been afforded opportunities by Jurgen Klopp and was even selected to start in the Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park.
Ahead of the showdown on Merseyside, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand shared a glowing reference of Elliott by claiming that his arrogance could see him go to the very top of the game.
Speaking on BT Sport, he said: "You've got to think about playing well for your club, the other stuff will take care of itself. What I will say about him [Elliott], he's got a real, nice arrogance about him.
"I think all the top players have a certain amount of arrogance around them. He has that. He feels like he should be playing. He's a massive Liverpool fan himself, he and his family have followed the team for years.

“But this kid, I don't think he will be sitting there going 'oh, I'm surprised I'm playing'. I think he's sitting there going 'I expect to play'. A bit more output in terms of assists and goals, and he will be on his way. But a tremendous talent."
Since arriving at Liverpool, Elliott has gone on to make 27 appearances for the club, scoring twice. He got the first Premier League goal of his fledgling career having netted in the record-breaking 9-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield last weekend.
The 19-year-old could be in line for a few more opportunities in the heart of the Liverpool midfield over the next few weeks with Klopp’s men currently going through somewhat of an injury crisis recently.
The German’s worries were added to on Saturday as Fabio Carvalho was withdrawn at half-time through injury but the Liverpool boss is remaining optimistic that the youngster will not be ruled out for an extended period.
He said: "I'm not 100% sure but I think it's the muscle above the knee, a massive dead leg and very painful. One of the most painful things you can get - it should settle quickly but we will see."
It remains to be seen if Carvalho will be able to appear in Liverpool’s next game as they take on Napoli in their opening Champions League clash of the season.
