Rihanna is one of the most successful music icons of the modern day – topping charts around the globe, selling out world tours, and reaching billionaire status thanks to projects outside of the music world too.
The 33-year-old star has packed a lot into her young years for far – with her Fenty Beauty range launching in 2017, her Fenty fashion brand launching in 2019, a skin care range following in 2020 and even becoming the National Hero of Barbados last year.
The singer has even found time to dip her toes into the acting world – with roles in action flicks like Battleship and heist thriller Ocean’s Eight.
And despite an overly packed work schedule, the star has even found time to keep her romantic life afloat – with a romance with rapper A$AP Rocky entering its second year and the pair set to become parents.
But who else has Rihanna dated since exploding into the spotlight at the age of 17 back in 2005? Here are her most significant romances over the years.
Chris Brown
Rihanna shot to fame in 2005 as a fresh faced teen thanks to the success of her debut single, Pon De Replay – and beginning her music career that would see her winning millions of fans, record sales and awards.
By 2007, she began an on-off romance with fellow musician Chris Brown, now 32 – but their romance came to an end after making headlines on the night of the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in 2009 as the rapper physically assaulted Rihanna.
Chris later plead guilty to a felony assault and was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to stay 50 yards from Rhianna.
Despite the violent incident, and concern from fans, the pair embarked on a second attempt at a romance in 2013, after repeated speculation throughout 2012 – but they broke up for good that same year.
Drake
Following the first split from Chris Brown, Rihanna embarked on a romance with Canadian rap hunk Drake – real name Aubrey Drake Graham, 35.
The romance was kindled in 2009 and proceeded to be on and off until 2016.
Together, Rihanna and Drake released a single called Take Care in 2012 which reached number 11 in the UK and number 7 in the USA.
However, Rihanna also featured on Drake’s 2016 song titled Too God, and he featured on her 2010 smash hit What’s My Name? and the chart topping 2016 single Work.
Hassan Jameel
Rihanna got a taste of the billionaire life when she dated Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel in 2017.
While the couple themselves have always been tight lipped about their romance, Rihanna’s dad said back in June 2017: “He’s going to have to buckle up, she’s a hard-working girl, she’s very independent and ambitious. Nobody can tell her what to do. She doesn’t want to be lifted up, she wants to get up there herself.”
While Riri was very complimentary about the 33-year-old when she alluded to her love-life to Vogue in 2018, saying: “I used to feel guilty about taking personal time, but I also think I never met someone who was worth it before.”
However, the love was not to last – and the couple quietly broke up in 2020.
A$AP Rocky
Rihanna and A$AP – whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers, 33 – were first linked in 2013 when he opened for her during her Diamonds World Tour.
However, a romance was not officially confirmed until May 2021 when he openly gushed about her during an interview with GQ magazine.
During an unexpectedly candid moment, A$AP branded Rihanna “the love of my life” – while other reports in People magazine declared the pair were “inseparable”.
In January 2022, the couple revealed that they were to become parents as Rihanna and A$AP were snapped wandering around the Harlem neighbourhood of New York City in the snow – with her pregnant baby bump on display, unveiled beneath a bright pink Chanel coat.
