Retired NFL running back Bilal Powell makes a bold statement about the New York Jets

Former New York Jets running back Bilal Powell believes that the New York Jets can go the distance this year.

Powell played the entirety of his nine-year NFL career with the Jets.

In a social media post, Powell didn’t just underscore the optimism about the Jets this year. He took it to a whole other level. In responding to a social media post about Pro Football Focus ranking the Jets as having the fourth-most talented roster in the NFL, Powell said that his old team can win the AFC East this year.

An offer for Jets fans

And not just win the AFC East, but make it the Super Bowl.

And not just make it to the Super Bowl, but win it too.

It isn’t a crazy outlook from Powell, who likely is having a bit of fun with his prediction. But in Powell’s statement, there is plenty of truth too.

Following last season’s disappointment, the Jets certainly have a pathway towards more wins and it centers on Aaron Rodgers. Powell seems to be in on this optimism.

What happened to Rodgers and the Jets last year needs not be re-hashed. But even with the Jets missing their starting quarterback for nearly the entirety of the season, head coach Robert Saleh still managed to guide the team to competitiveness and a 7-10 record.

If Rodgers can stay on the field and be healthy, then the Jets can very easily flip that record at a minimum…if not win the AFC East.

Perhaps Powell knows what he is talking about after all?
