A major rescue operation is said to be underway in Troon to retrieve a dog stuck in a rabbit hole.
It’s understood the pooch — thought to be a Patterdale Terrier — has fallen into a rabbit hole in woodland between Dundonald Road and Ottoline Drive.
An onlooker has said police and fire crews are in attendance in attempts to retrieve the dog.
One witness said: “A poor dog has fallen into a rabbit hole in woodland just off Dundonald Road, near to Ottoline Drive.
“There’s lots of police and the fire service here, including a police command vehicle, and they’re trying to rescue the wee dog.
“It’s just a wee thing and looks very young.
“The family are there watching on- my heart goes out to them.”
