Republic of Ireland begin their campaign to qualify for Euro 2024 by welcoming France to Dublin today.
These teams have a bit of history, most notably with Les Bleus profiting from Thierry Henry’s missed handball as they scored an extra-time winner to knock the Irish out of the 2010 World Cup play-offs.
However, not since 1981 have the Republic beaten France and face a daunting task in tonight’s clash given Didier Deschamps’ team made light work of their meeting with Group B rivals the Netherlands on Friday night.
