Report: Dolphins Acquiring Jalen Ramsey in Trade With Rams

The Dolphins are acquiring cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade with the Rams, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday afternoon.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Miami is sending a third-round pick this year (No. 77 overall) and tight end Hunter Long to Los Angeles for the cornerback.

Ramsey is set to enter his eighth NFL season, having been named to six consecutive Pro Bowls. Last season, he played in all 17 games for Los Angeles and registered four interceptions and two sacks.

Los Angeles signed Ramsey to a five-year, $100 million extension in 2020, and there are still three years remaining on the deal. Ramsey’s cap hit next year will be just over $32 million, but Miami has cleared cap space heading into free agency.

Ramsey appeared to confirm the trade talks on Twitter.

Ramsey will likely replace Byron Jones, whom Miami is expected to release after missing last season due to injuries.

For the Rams, trading Ramsey is the latest move to clear money off the books. Los Angeles also released Bobby Wagner and reportedly might be shopping quarterback Matthew Stafford.
