Report: Jets Unveil Plan for Aaron Rodgers in First Preseason Game

With Aaron Rodgers set to make his Jets debut on Saturday, the team’s plans for the star quarterback’s first game with New York have reportedly been revealed ahead of kickoff.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Jets intend to play Rodgers and the starters for two-to-three series, and up to 20 plays maximum, against the Giants at MetLife Stadium. Garafolo noted the plans remain fluid but fans should expect to see the four-time MVP “quite a bit” in New York’s preseason finale.

“The number one factor for the Jets is getting him and the starters in and out of this game healthy, obviously,” Garafolo said. “They also want to see what the communication is going to be like  … in a lot of ways, this is going to be a dress rehearsal.”

After months of hype in and around the Big Apple, the long wait for Rodgers’s highly-anticipated first game in the green and white will finally conclude just over two weeks before Week 1.

Of course, given the timing, the amount of playing time the 39-year-old sees against his new crosstown rival will certainly be worth monitoring as the Jets zero in on their season opener versus the Bills on Sept. 11.
