With a need at the quarterback position, the Indianapolis Colts are leaving no stone unturned. They reportedly reached out to free agent Jameis Winston, per Josina Anderson of USA TODAY.
While the rest of the league waits on the Deshaun Watson domino to fall, the Colts will be waiting patiently to make their next move. They have shown interest in trading for Jimmy Garoppolo as well.
Winston is coming off of a torn ACL he suffered during Week 8 with the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are the other team showing interest.
I just spoke w/ QB Jameis Winston who told me he's had conversations with both the #Colts and the #Saints. Saints already made an offer earlier this offseason. Winston in very good spirits told me, "I still view myself as a starter in this league and that's what I'm looking for."

Winston showed some improvements during the half-year that he was leading the Saints offense. He completed 59% of his passes for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and just three interceptions. His 102.8 passer rating during that stretch was far higher than his career rating of 87.8.
While Winston might not be the best fit for the Colts offense, they have interest. His upside is higher than that of other options on the market outside of maybe Matt Ryan.
We’ll see what happens with this scenario as the Colts are waiting for the Watson news to happen, but it’s clear there is some interest from Indy.
