Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush will not fight at UFC 288 next month.
Oliveira (33-9 MMA, 21-9 UFC), the former UFC lightweight champion, has suffered an injury that has postponed his scheduled bout with Dariush (22-4-1 MMA, 16-4-1 UFC), according to UFC broadcast partner ESPN.
UFC 288 takes place May 8 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Instead of seeking a replacement opponent for Dariush, the UFC reportedly will reschedule the bout for a later date.
Additional details on the injury to Oliveira, who was slated to return for the first time since losing the 155-pound title to Islam Makhachev in October, are unknown as of this writing.
The loss of Oliveira vs. Dariush is the second blow to the UFC 288 pay-per-view main card in as many days. On Thursday, Jonathan Pearce withdrew from his scheduled fight with Bryce Mitchell. The UFC is in search of a replacement for Mitchell.
The updated UFC 288 lineup includes:
