The Boston Celtics and big man Al Horford have come to terms on a two-year, $20 million contract extension according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This extension kicks in next season, and will see Horford remaining with the Celtics through the ’24-25 campaign.
The former Florida Gator is in his second stint with Boston and is a key part of the team’s success. Boston relies on Horford’s shooting and adaptive defense as well as his guidance and veteran leadership. Horford, 36, is currently averaging 10.9 points and 6.3 points in his 16th year as a pro.
This new extension will keep Horford in Celtics green on a team-friendly deal for the next few seasons. It could be instrumental in retaining fellow Boston big man Grant Williams, who will be a restricted free agent this summer.
