Rep. Mark Takano, a Democrat from California, has joined the chorus of voices within his party urging President Joe Biden to step aside and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential nominee for the 2024 election.

In a statement shared on social media, Takano praised Biden's accomplishments during his term, citing his role in saving democracy in 2020 and lauding him as a decent human being. However, Takano argued that the demands of a modern campaign are better suited for Vice President Harris.
