Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate made his debut for Japan on Tuesday as he was handed 45 minutes in their World Cup dead rubber with Vietnam.
The 24-year-old made way as a tactical substitute for Junya Ito at the break in Samurai Blue's final competitive match before they head to Qatar.
Hatate was called up to the senior squad for the first time and started for Hajime Moriyasu's side in the final qualifier.
And he will have hoped to have impressed during his brief appearance for the senior side.
Celtic team-mates Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi are both regulars with Japan but the pair were absent for this squad.
All three will be pushing to represent their national team in a major tournament later this year.
Hatate will now turn his focus to Sunday's blockbuster against Rangers at Ibrox as they go on search for a win that will put them six points ahead of their great rivals.
And his limited game time bodes well for Ange Postecoglou who faces decisions over who will start for him when his men travel across the city.
