Paul Pogba has been a 'major disappointment' in his second coming at Manchester United - but there are reasons for that failure.
That's the damning verdict from ex-United coach, Rene Meulensteen, who spent six years at Old Trafford working under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
During a previous spell at United, the Dutchman also spent time developing Academy players.
Meulensteen rubbed shoulders with Pogba in that respect and continued in his first-team role until 2013 - some 12 months after the World Cup winner initially left for Juventus. He then returned to the Premier League for £90million after four years in Turin before the 2016/2017 campaign.
Pogba is into the final months of his contract as speculation over his United future continues to mount.
Having rejected fresh terms last summer, there is every chance the Frenchman will leave United on a free transfer for the second time at the end of this season - amid long-standing interest from PSG and other big hitters from across Europe.
But why has it not quite worked out for the supremely talented Pogba?
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I don't know what has gone wrong there. It has been a major disappointment.

"Maybe because he was in a great Juventus team it was easier to shine, but he hasn't been able to lift United.
"It needs someone like him in the midfield as I don't believe Scott McTominay and Fred have all that United need to be challenging again."
