The Baltimore Ravens signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year contract worth up to $18 million. The deal includes $15 million in guarantees, signaling a clear commitment to the star wideout and what he can bring both on and off of the field to the team.
During Beckham’s introductory press conference, the pass catcher was asked about what the team did to make him feel so welcome within the organization. He couldn’t pinpoint one specific thing, but referenced conversations with owner Steve Bisciotti which made him want to be a member of the team.
“It’s the conversations, for one. [Owner] Steve [Bisciotti] reached out and that conversation, I remember texting my agent like, ‘I want to be a Raven.’ He had me fired up just about the opportunity, about the team. I don’t know how else to say it, but it was just, ‘To show you we want you here,’ is the only way I can break it down to you. I can’t give you a specific example of what it was, it just was the love that was shown. I’m a person who’s all about love. Showing love, you get love. They showed me a lot of love, and now it’s my duty to give that back. That’s something that’s going to be very easy for me because I know that I was wanted here.”
