Ravens EVP Ozzie Newsome says team will franchise tag QB Lamar Jackson if no deal struck by deadline

The Baltimore Ravens have a big decision to make in the event that they are unable to come to an agreement on a long-term deal with quarterback Lamar Jackson before the franchise tag deadline on Tuesday at 4pm EST. There are multiple avenues that the situation could go down, but it appears as if a franchise tag could be the most likely option for the star quarterback.

Speaking on the Bernie Kosar Show, Baltimore executive vice president Ozzie Newsome spoke about the situation surrounding Jackson and what could happen come Tuesday at 4pm. Newsome said that there will be “a lot of energy” put into getting a deal done with Jackson, but if not the team will put the franchise tag on him.
