Ranvir Singh quits Good Morning Britain role as Susanna Reid takes break from show

Ranvir Singh has quit her long held role on Good Morning Britain and is said to be looking for 'a new challenge' just as she stands in for Susanna Reid as main host.

While she has often stepped up to be main presenter on the ITV breakfast show, in the past Ranvir has been seen in Downing Street as GMB's political editor.

However, The Sun are reporting that Ranvir has stood down from that position after growing tired of the early starts.

A source said: "Ranvir is ready for a new challenge at Good Morning Britain and she wants a bigger role within the team.

"She quietly stepped down as the political editor of the show in anticipation of having a more substantial part to play."

Hinting at what aspirations Ranvir, who is standing in for Susanna over half term, may have for her position on the show, the insider added that "she wants more" and bosses at GMB are trying to give it to her.

The news comes as viewers are divided over Ranvir being main host this week alongside Richard Madeley.

Not a fan, one viewer tweeted: "Ranvir you should you know practice speaking without you know saying you know in every you know sentence. It’s very you know irritating.," with another blasting: "Lordy! If Ranvir isn’t saying “You Know …” every few mins, she’s fluffing up reading an autocue."

However, calling for Susanna to get the push, another reacted: "@GMB RANVIR & RICHARD IN REID OUT !!!!!!"

Ranvir saw her profile soar after her stint on Strictly Come Dancing at the end of 2020, when she was partnered with Giovanni Pernice and made it all the way to the semi final.

Since then, as well as filling in for Lorraine Kelly on her ITV morning show, Ranvir also hosted hard hitting documentary Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile, which saw her open up on her own experience of being abused.

Ranvir's brave revelation came as she interviewed one of Epstein's victims. Recalling what happened to GMB colleague Susanna and her co-host Rchard Madeley, Ranvir said: "So I did say to her 'something happened to me when I was 12 and I understand you shouldn't feel guilty about not...'"

Ranvir took a moment to compose herself in the GMB studio as she held back tears before telling Richard and Susanna: "Sorry, do you know what? I've only ever told two people in my life.

"In the last two days I've had to tell family members and so on."
