Rangers boss Clement's former assistant Daerden in bizarre 'didn't work out' verdict

Philippe Clement's former assistant manager has bizarrely claimed it 'didn't work out' for the Rangers manager when he was in charge of Genk....even though he won them a Belgian title.

The new Ibrox boss has made an impressive start to his job at Ibrox and has yet to taste defeat in all competitions.

Previously, he won three league titles in a row in his Belgian homeland and the first one was with Genk in 2019 before moving on to Brugge and winning the league two years in a row.

His assistant at Genk was Koen Daerden, who is now football development manager at the club.

And he's claimed that current manager Wouter Vrancken has fitted in better than Clement.

He said: "It didn't work out for Philippe Clement at the club because he wasn't here for long enough.

"Now there is far more interaction between the departments of the club.

"Wouter Vrancken knows everything about the club and has a strong respect here.

"He has made sure there is a strong link between youth work and the A-team. That is very productive."
