Ahead of their playoff matchup with the Detroit Lions, the Los Angeles Rams made a roster move. They waived defensive end Earnest Brown IV, whom they drafted in the fifth round in 2021.
Brown was waived as a rookie in 2021 but was signed to the practice squad, where he remained all season. In the last two years, he’s bounced between the active roster and practice squad but it looks like he won’t be part of the postseason roster.
Brown has played just 12 games in three seasons, recording 14 tackles and no sacks. He played seven games this season but only 56 total snaps on defense, 12 of which came on Sunday against the 49ers.
What makes this move even worse for Brown is that today is his birthday, so it’s not the way he was hoping to celebrate.
They even wished him a happy birthday on social media three hours before waiving him.
Two birthdays today! 🥳@ErnieBIV x @OchaunDevon pic.twitter.com/Pkjgvv6Ypj
