- Ram's first battery-powered trucks have been delayed to the first half of 2025.

The Ram 1500 REV all-electric pickup truck debuted back in February 2023. The Ram 1500 Ramcharger extended-range EV followed in November 2023. Both were supposed to go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year, but as you might have noticed, that hasn’t happened yet.
Now we know why. Stellantis, the company that owns Ram, said the two trucks won’t launch until the first half of 2025 as the auto giant has a lot on its plate right now with the market launches of the electric Dodge Charger and Jeep Wagoneer S.
“We don't want to take risks," Stallantis CEO Carlos Tavares said during an online news conference about the STLA Frame platform that underpins both the REV and the Ramcharger.
"In terms of validation, it's very important for Stellantis to demonstrate that we have all the capabilities and that we master the technology with a high level of durability, and that's exactly what we are doing right now. So, we don't want to rush, and as we all know, it's better to take a few weeks more to validate properly than to rush and then to make mistakes in terms of quality. That's what we are doing now. We are validating, and we are managing the peak between the products that we have ahead of us.
Tavares’s comment comes after it was revealed earlier this year that too many gas-powered Ram trucks need repairs right after leaving the assembly line. This increases manufacturing costs and deliveries get delayed, hurting the brand’s reputation.
Regarding the two new battery-powered trucks’ viability, Tavares seemed honest when saying the doesn’t know what will happen.

"Is it the [best] moment we introduce it or not? Future will say,” Tavares said. “Of course, if you come after the other guys, somebody would say, we are late. If you come before the other guys, then somebody will ask us if we are ... ahead of time. To be honest with you, we don't know, but what we know is that we are going to be the first ones to bring the range extender to the market. That we know. And what we also know is that we are going to be among those who can bring the biggest range and capability. ... So for that, I'm very proud of my engineering team, because they are leading the way."
The Ram 1500 REV will be the brand’s first all-electric pickup. It will be available with two battery versions, both immense: a 168-kilowatt-hour pack capable of delivering up to 350 miles of EPA range and a 229 kWh pack with a claimed 500 miles of range.
Meanwhile, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger is a range-extended EV. It uses two electric motors and a 92 kWh battery for motivation. There’s also a 3.6-liter V6 engine under the hood that acts solely as a generator for the high-voltage battery pack and is not physically connected to the wheels in any way.
