Ariana Grande has once again sparked online speculation, with a single word in an Instagram caption enough to fuel theories among fans that a long-rumoured collaboration with Taylor Swift may finally be imminent.
The pop star shared a promotional post for her cosmetics line, r.e.m. beauty, captioned 'your everyday encore', just hours after Swift confirmed her own project 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore'.
Clips from the accompanying video featuring an 'OOO' reference soon surfaced online. Fan account @arianaaHQ amplified the moment on X, and the theory spread within minutes.
An 'Encore' Caption Ignites Fan Theories
The timing could not have looked more deliberate to fans of both artists. Swift confirmed on 23 September that 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore', an expanded edition of her album containing four new songs, would arrive on 25 September, alongside the previously announced single 'Patient Zero'.
The four additional tracks, 'Patient Zero', 'Cleveland!', 'Pink Clouding' and 'Babylon', were recorded in Sweden with longtime producers Max Martin and Shellback. Some fans have speculated that Grande could feature on 'Pink Clouding', based on the overlapping imagery between the two artists' recent posts.
Neither Grande's team nor Swift's representatives have issued an official statement confirming or denying a collaboration. Every element of the theory, from the shared numerology to the caption itself, remains circumstantial and has been pieced together by fans combing through social media.

A History of 'Tayriana' Speculation
This is far from the first time Grande has been credited with dropping hints about a Swift collaboration. In 2019, Grande captioned an Instagram post with a bow-and-arrow emoji just three days after Swift released 'The Archer', prompting similar fan theories that swept across social media at the time.
That earlier episode ultimately fizzled after observers noted that the post was tagged for a Givenchy shoot with no apparent connection to Swift. More recently, however, the rumours gained fresh attention from an unlikely source: Swift herself.

Swift, meanwhile, arrives at this rollout amid heightened scrutiny of her own promotional strategy. Her 'Patient Zero' cover art drew immediate criticism over alleged Photoshop errors, with fans on X calling the retouching around her torso 'horrendous' and 'almost AI', even as pre-orders opened for a 24-hour window.
Fans had also been decoding a string of Easter eggs, including a Law & Order: SVU-themed Emmys skiton14 September in which Swift recited a seemingly random phrase that some decoded as spelling out 'ENCORE' using the third letter of each word.
The convergence of Swift's own 'Encore' branding with Grande's simultaneous use of the identical word is, for many fans, too precise to be coincidental, though industry precedent suggests caution.
Pop stars frequently share thematic language, colour palettes and numerology, and no verified production credits, songwriting registrations or label statements currently support the collaboration claim.
Grande's own commercial calendar adds further context. R.E.M. Beauty, which Grande founded in November 2021, generated US$88.7 million in revenue in 2023. That detail has not stopped fans from treating the caption as a deliberate wink rather than a scheduling coincidence.
Grande's Eternal Sunshine Tour ran from 6 June to 1 September 2026, taking in Canada, England and the United States over 41 shows and grossing $107.9 million. A joint single, should it materialise, would arrive at a moment when both women command highly engaged fan bases in pop music.
For now, the 'Encore' theory remains exactly that: a theory, built on a caption, an 'OOO' reference and years of fan speculation. Until Grande, Swift or their representatives confirm otherwise, fans will be left parsing captions, counting letters and waiting for an official word that has, so far, never come.
