Raheem Sterling believes his move to Arsenal is a “perfect fit”.
Sterling trained with the Gunners for the first time yesterday following his deadline-day loan move from Chelsea.
The 29-year-old has been given the No30 shirt and is pushing to make his debut in the north London derby at Tottenham after the international break.
“This is a challenge I’m relishing,” said Sterling.
“It is a perfect fit, to be at a club where you can see that hunger, that desire year-on-year to push and push. That is exactly how I am as a person, each year you want to do better than the previous year.
“Really exciting. I’m buzzing. It [the deal] was left until late but it was one I was hoping for. Looking at everything, this is a perfect fit for me and I’m super happy we got it over the line.”
Sterling is excited to link up with Mikel Arteta again after working with the Arsenal manager when the pair were together at Manchester City.
“He’s a top guy,” said the winger. “I’ve spent some time with him at City and to see him come here and stamp his mark on this amazing club says a lot about him.
“You can see the real togetherness from Mikel’s time here. You can see the journey the boys are on, you can see the hunger and the togetherness.”
