Rachael Blackmore ruled out of Cheltenham this weekend with injury

Rachael Blackmore has been ruled out of a return to Cheltenham this weekend after suffering an injury in a schooling fall yesterday.

The 33-year-old is expected to be out for a "short period of time" following the unfortunate spill according to Racing TV this afternoon.

She was 'stood down' for her three rides at Thurles this afternoon and will also sit out Cheltenham tomorrow where she was booked to partner two horses on the opening day of the jumping season in the Cotswolds.

Her name has also taken off her intended mount at Cheltenham on Saturday — Story Rory in the closing Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle and replaced by Sam Ewing.

The Tipperary woman, who tasted Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup glory at Cheltenham last March on Honeysuckle and A Plus Tard, is also likely to be out for Sunday's Munster National meeting at Limerick.

Hopes are high though that she'll be back in action soon with Racing TV presenter and legendary jockey Ruby Walsh giving an optimistic report.

Walsh said: "She doesn't think she will be out for too long. I don't think this time of year too many National Hunt riders like to be out as things start to hot up.

"She had a couple of rides but they have gone elsewhere."

Blackmore missed out on a winning ride in the opening Beginners' Chase when Secret She Keeps (8/15f) captured the contest for trainer Henry De Bromhead, who confirmed that his stable jockey is out for a few days.

He said: "Mark was brilliant on her. Unfortunately Rachael (Blackmore) is out for a few days as she got hurt schooling. She is a lovely mare & needs every inch of the distance."
