Quote of the day by Confucius: "The good man does not grieve that other people do not recognize his merits. His only anxiety is..."

The desire to be recognised can quietly shape how people measure their success, confidence and self-worth. More than two thousand years ago, Chinese philosopher Confucius offered a different perspective, suggesting that people should be less concerned about whether others notice their achievements and more concerned about recognising the merits of those around them. In the Analects, Confucius wrote: “The good man does not grieve that other people do not recognize his merits. His only anxiety is lest he should fail to recognize theirs.” The quote presents humility as an important part of good character. Rather than constantly seeking praise or validation, Confucius encourages people to focus on recognising the abilities and contributions of others. His message remains relevant today, when recognition through careers, social media and public achievements can easily become a measure of personal worth.
