More than 1,000 parties and events are set to take place in London across the four-day bank holiday weekend.
Richmond, Wandsworth and Croydon are leading the way, with hundreds of jubilee events in each borough.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, right, will attend a Big Jubilee Lunch at the Oval cricket ground on Sunday. Other highlights include a mile-long street party in Walthamstow high street and events at Battersea Power Station and the Royal Docks that also celebrate the arrival of the Commonwealth Games baton relay.
Councils charge around £1,700 to close roads and suspend parking bays but have waived fees to encourage residents to organise street parties. However, the deadline to apply for most councils was at the end of April. Culture minister Chris Philp has urged councils to “show a little bit of flexibility” for last-minute requests.
Battersea Power Station will be the first central London destination visited by the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay on Thursday, following its arrival back into the UK after a trip across the Commonwealth. There will be a two-day family party at the power station on Thursday and Friday and its iconic chimneys will be lit purple and gold.
The baton reaches the Royal Docks, in Newham, on Sunday. There will be a a flotilla of boats and a free “Right Royal Docks Knees Up” concert in Royal Victoria
Gardens. Newham expects 111 events across the borough, including in the Olympic Park.
Wandsworth has at least 224, including Big Jubilee lunches on Sunday in Battersea Park, Wandsworth Common and Tooting Common. Richmond council has 331 street parties and its jubilee beacon will be unveiled on Thursday night on Richmond Hill.
In Lambeth, Brockwell Park will host the ticketed Jubilation festival, headlined by Madness — who performed Our House on top of Buckingham Palace a decade ago.
Croydon has more than 140 Big Lunch parties planned. Romford Market will host a free party on Saturday, and in Greenwich, Charlton park will host a festival on Thursday and Friday.
Kensington and Chelsea council has renamed the area outside the town hall Jubilee Square. In Kingston the Coronation Stone, said to be the site of the crowning of seven Anglo-Saxon kings, has been restored.
