Queen of the South boss Marvin Bartley insists Saturday’s match with Peterhead isn’t a forgone conclusion.
The South are looking for their season best three league wins in a row and are looking to make it five unbeaten against bottom dogs Blue Toon. He said: “I’ve been putting into the boys that the next game is the most important one. Peterhead are a team that’s fighting for their lives.
“They’ve got someone in interim charge and I’m unsure if they’ll have someone in charge by the weekend. The boys here have been through that where you’re unsure who is watching from the stand and is it your future
manager. You get a bounce from that so we need to concentrate on what we’re doing.”
On-form Doonhamers are closing in the play-offs but the manager isn’t getting carried away. Bartley said: “It’s just a case of taking it one game at a time. With 18 points to play for we want to take as many points as we can.”
Bartley is already looking ahead to next term. He said: “I was looking ahead to next season as soon as I came into the club. It’s all about evolving and that’s the way you have to be in football. I’ve had one eye firmly fixed on next season quite early into my time here probably after the January window closed.
“That will always be the way that you deal with the next window as soon as the current one ends.”
