Marvin Bartley believes coaching is just as important as bringing in new signings to Palmerston.
The new gaffer spoke with a week and a half left in the January transfer window and it appears the ins and outs are far from over.
He said: “We are always looking while the window is open but whilst we have the players we have in the dressing room, we need to make ourselves better.
“There are some very good players at the club, it’s not just about bringing players in all the time, there is coaching to be done as well, which falls upon me and my staff.
“They will get better and get used to the way we want to play, and the performances will get better regardless of us bringing players in or not.”
Bartley has already started to put his stamp on the squad with goalkeeper Max Currie departing for an undisclosed fee to Lowland League side East Kilbride, with fellow shot-stopper, Kevin Dabrowksi moving to Palmerston on loan from
top-flight outfit Hibs.
Bartley said: “The squad is big so there may be some loans or permanents during this window, Max has gone to East Kilbride.
“So that’s one out so far but we will keep assessing the squad throughout January and if we need to get players out the door then we will do so, and if we need to bring them in we will also do so.
“In the meantime it’s about coaching, getting the players well structured and
well-drilled and stamp out these mistakes that we’re making.”
Jack Brydon is another player who has came in as part of Bartley’s regime and made his debut in last week’s loss to Montrose.
The 18-year-old said: “I had a good 10 years at Hibs but both parties felt it was time to move on and I’m ready to kick on in a league I know well so it’s all about me playing and trying to get my best performances for Queen of the South now.
“A two and a half year deal gives me the platform to come and play.
“The deal happened so fast. I got the call last Monday, things moved on on Tuesday, I said my goodbyes on Wednesday and I joined the squad on Thursday and trained. It was a positive week apart from the result on Saturday.”
