QPR in battle to keep in-demand Jake Clarke-Salter this summer

Queen’s Park Rangers face a battle to keep hold of defender Jake Clarke-Salter this summer.

The 26-year-old has significant interest from clubs at the upper end of the Championship after a sensational end to the season under Marti Cifuentes.

Stoke City are among the clubs keen on signing the defender, who could cost between £5million to £10m depending on negotiations.

However, the former Chelsea academy graduate has long targeted a return to the Premier League level and will pick his club based on their promotion prospects.

There is also a loose agreement that if a Premier League club approaches Clarke-Salter, QPR will be open to allowing their star defender to take the next step.

QPR will seek reasonable compensation and rejected an approach from former Rs manager Michael Beale while he was at Rangers last summer.

Clarke-Salter has played 118 games in the Championship since leaving on loan from Chelsea to join Birmingham, Sunderland, and Coventry City.
