Russia allowed gas to keep flowing to Europe on Friday despite Vladimir Putin’s threat to turn off supplues if countries refuse to pay in roubles.
An order by the president had caused alarm across the continent, with Germany, which is Russia’s biggest buyer, branding the demand “blackmail”.
