PUNE: A 32-year-old woman from Kothrud and her three-year-old daughter were killed, while her husband and seven-year-old son suffered severe injuries after their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Friday.
The accident occurred at the ‘Y’ junction of the bridge at Kivale, with its one corridor connecting Pune-Mumbai expressway and another connecting Pune-Mumbai highway. Police suspect that the driver proceeded towards the expressway after hitting the motorcycle.
The Dehu Road police have identified the victims as Mamata Chaudhary and her daughter Dipti. Mamata’s husband Suresh (36) sustained severe injuries while her son Mahavir (7) escaped with minor injuries. “Suresh is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital,” sub-inspector Vaibhav Patil of Dehu Road police said.
“Prima facie probe revealed that when they came on the bridge at Kivale, the vehicle hit their motorcycle, which was going towards Dehu Road, killing the mother-daughter duo on the spot,” Patil said.
