Although thrifting has become a trend, some vintage items like dolls and plushies often get stigmatized for being haunted. It seems that the fear isn’t conjured out of nowhere, as Kalei (@kaleiseesdeadpeople), a paranormal investigator in the Midwest, claims to have found a haunted doll during one of her trips to the antique store. Upon taking it home, Kalei realized that the doll may have had an even more sinister past than she suspected.

“I’m antiquing, and I’ve never been more sure that one of these dolls is haunted,” Kalei said as she motioned to the shelf stocked with old dolls. Most of them look like they came from the 20th century given their craftsmanship and clothing. But Kalei has one problem: “I can’t tell which one it is. I know for a fact that one of them is haunted.”
Kalei is a self-professed psychic medium. Her content on social media is all about her spiritual experiences as she explores other haunted locations across the US.
Because she was determined to seek the source of the energy, Kalei took a closer look at the dolls on the shelves. She suspected that it was either the blonde doll in white or the redheaded doll in a sailor outfit. For the untrained eye, both look equally unsettling—but after hugging each doll on the row, Kalei concluded that it must be the red-haired doll that’s haunted. It seems that even TikTok comments largely agreed that the redhead doll had strange energy, with one user writing, “It’s 100% this one.”
Did she buy it?
Kalei thought twice about bringing the doll home. She was for sale at $100, which is a lot to pay for. Adding that there’s haunted value in the doll, it’s certainly something to think hard about. Despite wanting to leave the doll at first, Kalei went back for her and bought her anyway.
“I started to walk away and almost burst into tears. So, I have to bring her home,” Kalei said. While TikTok comments beneath her video expressed panic over the redheaded doll, it wouldn’t be its last social media appearance.
In a follow-up video, Kalei decided to give the doll a tarot reading to understand its background. Not everything that ends up in the antique shop is given a background check. But what Kalei inferred from the tarot reading disturbed her.
Doing a tarot reading on a haunted doll
“This little girl was murdered,” she said in her follow-up video. Kalei said that while she brings other antiques and possibly other haunted objects into her home, she especially felt the need to look into the new doll’s background. She used tarot cards to conduct the reading, and she claims two cards fell out.
“It was the Death card and the Emperor card,” Kalei claimed. She also checked her confirmation deck and asked if the girl was murdered, and it said, “Yes.” Kalei explained that when she felt like crying at the store, it must have been the spirit’s emotions that she was feeling. The doll, she thought, was feeling sad and anxious that she was going to be left behind.
Kalei said that the doll must be named “Jess,” but she wasn’t so sure yet. Either way, Kalei has given the doll a new home. This haunted story seems to have taken a close turn to Toy Story, all for the better.
