Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were apparently "uninvited" to a state reception for world leaders and foreign royals, according to reports.
The pair, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020, were slated to attend as of last week by high-profile royal commentators. But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now unlikely to appear after a breakdown in communication.
The change reportedly came as Buckingham Palace insisted the reception, hosted by King Charles and the Queen Consort, was exclusively for working royals.

The new Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate will greet dignitaries alongside Princess Anne as well as Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex with his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
A communication breakdown is the source of the confusion, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Confusion arose when Omid Scobie, Yahoo's Royal editor, said senior royal family members including the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were slated to attend.
Mr Scobie added: "Representatives from almost every country (some exceptions, such as Russia and Syria) attending, including New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern, ambassadors from Iran and North Korea, and (making an extremely rare public appearance) Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan."
Among those guests expected to attend are over 30 members of overseas royalty.
These include King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium and Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco.
US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron will also be in attendance.
Among the politicians who will also attend are European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and the President of India Droupadi Murmu.
Those visiting will also have the chance to attend the Queen's lying-in-state, and have been invited to sign the condolence book at Clarence House.
Harry and Meghan's representatives have been contacted for comment.
