Primark fans divided over floral knitted sweaters

There is no doubt that trends may constantly evolve but fashion will remain eternal.

Some pieces throughout time have been regarded as a wardrobe necessity, from the iconic little black dress to a plain white tee paired with denim blue jeans.

While some of these staples may never go out of style, others may argue there are fashion fads per decade which, to put it bluntly, should be set on fire never to return.

Popular budget retailer Primark recently ignited the debate of fashion or fashion fail by unveiling their latest item on their Instagram account.

The post debuted a set of floral knitted sweaters, in blue and cream, that are designed with vibrant coloured flower petals.

Many social media users flocked to the comments’ section, expressing a plethora of opinions regarding the set.

While others have called the sweaters a ‘must-have’, others have called it a jumper that time-travelled back to thirty years ago.

One commenter enthusiastically wrote, “These are so cute!” while another chimed in writing, “Gorgeous just gorgeous.”

A third commenter may have needed a box of tissues while emotionally praising Primark as she wrote, “Now they just want to make me cry, I need both of these.”

A fourth commenter celebrated the return of a reminiscent fashion staple of the past writing, “We can look like we are back in the 90s again” alongside a lovestruck emoji.

A fifth one, clearly with a stock filled with knitted goods, may have room for another purchase, wrote, “I don’t need anymore knits but I’m viiiiibing these.”

A sixth commenter, who is fully supportive of Primark bringing back the knitted printed sweater, writing “ Retro! I like it!”

A seventh commenter was feeling inspired by the sweaters’ colourful prints by writing, “They are so gorgeous, lovely and bright for the Springtime!”

On the other hand, there were commenters who couldn’t help but resort to writing funny anecdotes to ridicule the sweaters.

One commenter poked fun at the sweaters by writing, “When Heydydd’s daily style in jumpers for the last 30 years becomes fashion!”

A second commenter joined other sceptics by writing, “Looks like my grandma’s jumper! Is this really fashion?”

A third commenter also wrote a cheeky dig to Mum by writing, “Don’t need to buy one because I’m sure my mum already will have some in a wardrobe like that” alongside laughing emojis. Additionally, a fourth commenter chimed in by writing, “Grandma’s fashion of the 60s…”

A fifth commenter even shaded the brand by simply writing, “I don’t know what to actually say” with an embarrassed face emoji.

It seems like there have been mixed reactions regarding the sweaters, as some may be eagerly anticipating Spring with their newly bought sweaters.

Meanwhile, others might turn the other way and just stick to the regulars.
