A 51-year-old man who raped a 16-year-old girl has shown a "complete lack of remorse" for the harm he caused and tried to falsely downplay his actions, a judge has said.
"His conduct was opportunistic and predatory," Chief Justice Lucy McCallum said in the ACT Supreme Court on Wednesday, September 30.
The man, who was 44 at the time and has not been named to protect the identity of the victim, was handed a five-year jail sentence, backdated to take about three months already spent behind bars into account.
