Portugal's Ronaldo walks away amid tensions with coach

Cristiano Ronaldo has left Portugal’s training camp after several days of tensions with head coach Jorge Jesus. Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença travelled to Copenhagen to try to ease the situation, without success. Ronaldo eventually missed training and left Denmark on his private jet. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner must now explain his decision.

South Africa beat Eritrea (5-0) to move top of Group D in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

In the Women’s Champions League, Paris FC drew with Arsenal (2-2), while OL Lyonnes were held by Chelsea (0-0).

In the EuroLeague, ASVEL lost to Panathinaikos (102-79).

In cycling, still recovering from his crash on the Vuelta, Tadej Pogacar will not compete at the European Championships in Ljubljana.

Finally, Arthur Fils beat Luca Van Assche in Tokyo (6-3, 6-2), while Novak Djokovic defeated Nuno Borges in Beijing (6-3, 7-6), and Arthur Gea beat Zhizhen Zhang (6-4, 6-3).
