Sometimes a ‘special’ car sticks in your mind - even when you’ve driven hundreds of also-rans. Such cars - for me - include a Lotus Turbo Esprit, a 1920s Blower Bentley, the original Sierra Cosworth, the first Toyota MR2, a Sherman tank, an articulated truck and a 35-footAmerican RV. All memorable in their own way.
The Porsche Macan Turbo joined those ranks in 2018 when I drove the 3.6-litre V6 petrol version, producing 440 HP, over several hundred miles. It might have been something to do with the beautiful Cotswold roads, but the main reason was the speed, power, fun, nimble handling combined with its practicality and general ‘involving’ feel.
