Prime Minister Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31 paid floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity at Narmada in Gujarat on the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, which is celebrated as National Unity Day.
He also launched several development projects at the Statue of Unity, which has emerged as major tourism hub. It is world’s tallest statue with a height of 182 metres where over three million visitors visit the site annually.
On October 31, the Prime Minister also administered the oath of unity to the gathering at the site.
Mr. Modi witnessed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) parade, comprising marching contingents from the Border Security Force (BSF), CRPF and the state police force.
The Prime Minister addressed the gathering and launched multiple development projects worth Rs 160 crore.
After paying tributes to Sardar Patel; Mr. Modi addressed the officer trainees of the 98th Common Foundation Course at the culmination of the fifth edition of “Aarambh” in which 560 trainees from 16 Indian civil services and three from Bhutan civil services participated.
As per a government release, the Prime Minister addressed the trainee officers with a vision to enable civil servants to lead change and work seamlessly across departments and sectors, and congratulated them for successfully completing the training course.
The 5th edition of the Aarambh programme was held on the theme of ‘Harnessing the Power of Disruption.’ It may be noted that Aarambh was launched in 2019 by bringing together all trainees of the All India Civil Services and Group-A Central Services.
The course provides a first-hand introduction to the ideas, challenges and responsibilities of governance in a large and diverse country, the release said.
The foundation course participants get lessons in leadership, civil servant skills as well as personal skills and vision for administration.
It aims to make administration more responsive to the needs of the people. During this three-and-a-half-month course, a large number of national and international speakers, experts and inspirational figures interact with officer trainees to shape their vision as public administrators.
