Political group set up to promote 'incredible' Nottingham Forest across Nottinghamshire

An All-Party Political Group (APPG) has been set-up in order to promote Nottingham Forest across the local community, local MPs have confirmed.

APPGs are informal cross-party groups that have no official status within Parliament. They are run by and for Members of the Commons and Lords, though many choose to involve individuals and organisations from outside Parliament in their administration and activities.

In a post on her Facebook page, Ruth Edwards MP said: "[I am] delighted to become the Vice Chair for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Nottingham Forest recently! [I am] looking forward to promoting our fantastic football club and all sport in Rushcliffe."

A post shared on Ben Bradley's Facebook page showed a number of MPs alongside Forest chairman Nicholas Randall QC and Lord Vernon Coaker. Those in the picture included: Lilian Greenwood, Alex Norris, Mark Spencer, Nicholas Randall, Ben Bradley, Nadia Whittome, Lee Anderson, Tom Randall and Brendan Clarke Smith.

Mr Bradley, the MP for Mansfield, added: "It was a pleasure to join the All Party Parliamentary Group for Nottingham Forest, along with the club's Chairman Nick Randall, and most of Nottinghamshire's MPs from both parties (and a Lord, and even one or two with other footballing allegiances).

"Football is obviously a really powerful thing both socially and economically, so we made a commitment to promote and celebrate Notts and Nottingham through the club's history and successes.

"I learned some things I didn't know, alongside the well known stories of success and Clough and European cups. Did you know Nottinghamshire played a role in building the very fabric of football, like bringing in crossbars and corner flags even. Our area helped build the game we know and love, and obviously Forest has an incredible history and story to tell.

"Looking forward to hopefully promotion celebrations at both the City Ground and Field Mill in the coming weeks (PLEASE!) Wouldn't that be massive for our area! Backing our local teams for success."
