Police release e-fit of suspect after woman in her 20s stalked and attacked in Islington

An e-fit of the suspect - (Met Police)

Police have released an e-fit image of a suspect after a woman was stalked and attacked in Islington.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, reported that an unknown man had approached and attacked her near her home off Hornsey Road in May 2025.

The suspect is reported to have tried to gain entry to her property the day after the attack, which took place in the property’s communal garden.

The woman told police that she was approached from behind and that a cloth with a strong smell was placed over her mouth, before she managed to escape.

Enquiries were carried out at the time, including reviews of CCTV enquiries, but the suspect could not be identified and the investigation was closed.

However, the woman then reported seeing the same man outside her home on three occasions in April 2026, prompting police to reopen the investigation.

Officers have carried out extensive enquiries during their investigation, including door-to-door enquiries in the area and further reviews of CCTV.

They have now released an e-fit of the suspect to assist the investigation.

He is described as a black man, believed to be in his early 40s, and around 6ft tall. He was wearing a black jacket which had a Stone Island logo on the arm.

Detective Constable Paul Le Fevre said: “Since these latest incidents were reported to us, we have carried out extensive enquiries, including working with the victim to create an e-fit picture of the suspect and circulating it to thousands of officers, and reviewing many hours of CCTV footage.

“Despite this, we have so far been unable to identify the suspect in the picture and are now appealing to the public for help. We would ask anyone who recognises the man in the image, or who has information about these incidents, to please get in touch with us.

“We need to trace this man. Any detail you can give us could help identify him.”

Anyone with information has been urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference 01/7421034/26, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
