Police lock down Cumbernauld shopping centre after reports of 'injured man'

Police have locked down an area around a shopping centre in Cumbernauld amid reports of a fatal stabbing.

Officers rushed to the area around the Abronhill Shopping Centre at around 4.45pm on Monday February 14.

Local reports suggest that a 'man in his 20s has been stabbed', reports the Daily Record.

Police are yet to confirm details of any injuries or casualties.

A takeaway based in the shopping centre said on social media that it had been asked to close while investigations into the incident were carried out by detectives.

Spice of Life Abronhill said: "Due to police having to cordon off the area in Abronhill, the shopping centre and anything within 2 miles of it has been shut due to police investigation over an incident outside the Roland's Pharmacy Abronhill.

"We apologise for the inconvenience, we hope to be open tomorrow evening however according to the police its up to CID to make the call."

Police Scotland said earlier today: "Around 4.45pm on Monday, February 14 officers were called to reports of an injured man in Larch Court, Cumbernauld.

"Officers are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."
