A man has been shot dead and another seriously injured in a shooting at Beechworth, in Victoria's north-east.
Victoria Police responded to reports of a shooting at a property on Buckland Gap Road at about 8:45pm yesterday.
Officers found the body of a man at the front of the home, and the injured man in a rear shed.
The injured man, who is believed to be aged in his 60s, was flown to hospital.
The Homicide Squad is investigating the incident, and the Major Crime Scene Unit is in attendance.
Indigo Shire Mayor Bernard Gaffney said the normally quiet town was in shock.
"I got a phone call about half past six and I was told about it, and I said 'Are you sure?'," he told ABC Local radio.
