Police appeal launched after man run over by car and attacked by gang in Rutherglen

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Rutherglen.

A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital after a black coloured car was deliberately driven at him on Skye Road round 9.20 pm on Thursday, May 18.

He was then assaulted by a number of persons who exited the vehicle carrying weapons.

Detective Constable Cameron Owen, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “The victim remains in hospital where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area to get in touch. I would also appeal to motorists who have dash-cam footage that may have captured something which could prove vital to our ongoing enquiries to make contact with us.

“If you could help with our enquiries, please call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4032 of Thursday, 18 May, 2023. Alternatively, you can call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
