Pitru Paksha 2026: Start Date, End Date and Dos & Don’ts

Pitru Paksha Drik Panchang Hindu

Pitru Paksha, or Shradh Paksha, or Mahalaya Paksha, is the holy month in the Hindu calendar in which one commemorates the spirits of deceased ancestors. Some of the practices that are performed during Pitru Paksha include shraddha, tarpan, pind daan, and even the provision of food and charities. In 2026, there has been some controversy regarding the starting date since the Purnima Shraddha takes place on September 26, whereas Pitru Paksha begins from September 27.
