The pilot of an ultralight aircraft has died in a crash west of Toowoomba this afternoon.
Multiple emergency service crews were called to the incident near Bowenville at 2.20pm.
It is understood the aircraft hit powerlines and landed in a paddock on the Malu-Bowenville Road.
Police have confirmed the pilot, a man aged in his 60s, was declared deceased at the scene.
Emergency crews waited for energy provider Ergon Energy to verify power had been turned off before they could access the scene.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) spokeswoman confirmed three QFES, one QFES senior officer, and ambulance and police units attended the scene.
Inspector Stewart Lange from QFES said crews from Oakey, Bowenville and Toowoomba attended.
“We’ve had to involve Ergon to provide safe access for crews to get to the aircraft to access the casualty,” he said.
A spokesperson for the ATSB (Australian Transport Safety Bureau) said, "the aircraft concerned is an ultralight, which we don't have responsibility for investigating".
Any investigation would be undertaken by Recreational Aviation Australia (RA-Aus), the membership organisation which looks after ultralight and recreational category aircraft.
Police have confirmed the Forensic Crash Unit, working alongside Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), and Recreational Aviation Australia (RAA) will prepare a report for the Coroner.
