Piers Morgan 'overreacted' with GMB storm off as Alex Beresford was 'a stiff', says Trump

Piers Morgan launched his new TV show Piers Morgan Uncensored with an explosive interview with Donald Trump on Monday evening.

The former President of the United States sat down with the 57-year-old presenter in a pre-recorded chat, which saw the pair address Piers’ explosive exit from Good Morning Britain.

Ex-Good Morning Britain presenter Piers turned to the topic at the end of the first instalment of his new flagship programme, saying: “Trump gives his take on my walkout from Good Morning Britain”.

Piers explained to Trump that he chose the title because he “lost” his last job, to which Trump said he saw the infamous clip.

Trump added: “I thought you overreacted by the way,” before continuing to say that “the guy”, referring to Alex Beresford, was “a stiff”.

Piers replied: “It wasn't actually about the walkout so here’s what happened,” to which Trump said: “You made it about him.”

Piers is heading up the flagship show on the brand new TV channel TalkTV as part of a rumoured £50 million three-year deal.

The launch of Piers Morgan Uncensored comes just over a year after the TV presenter shocked the nation by storming off a live broadcast of ITV ’s Good Morning Britain.

The Marmite presenter marched out of the studio after a heated clash with weather presenter Alex over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Ofcom received more than 41,000 complaints after Piers claimed he “didn't believe” Meghan was telling the truth while discussing her “suicidal” thoughts.

When Alex slammed Piers for his "absolutely diabolical" behaviour, his rival dramatically walked out saying he was "done with this", although he did later return to the live show.

Piers subsequently said he had to walk off Good Morning Britain to avoid headbutting “deputy stand-in weather guy” Alex Beresford.

Speaking at an awards ceremony, he said: “I shouldn’t have walked off when I did... because the deputy stand-in weather guy says something annoying.

“It was either that or give him a Glasgow kiss. I decided that wouldn’t go down very well.”

Piers hasn’t spoken to Alex since because “he was annoying enough when I worked with him – why would I bother now?” He also said he rarely watches the ITV show now.

But he added: “I want them to be successful. I put my heart and soul into it for five years. Obviously it’s different without me – they have to try to struggle by somehow.”
