Phillip Schofield wasted no time in pointing the finger of blame as he returned to This Morning to find an X-rated 'gift' in his dressing room. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV daytime show for the first time this year on Monday (January 9) alongside co-host Holly Willoughby.
The pair hadn't been seen hosting the show live for weeks after heading off on their Christmas break in early December. Viewers did, however, get their Holly and Phil fix between Christmas and New Year when ITV aired a string of shows that the duo pre-recorded back in November when This Morning was off air for coverage of the World Cup.
Opening their first show of 2023, Holly, 41, cheerily declared: "We have missed you!" before adding: "There you are. Welcome to Monday's This Morning." Phillip, 60, then added: "How very lovely to see you," before sharing his fears after every substantial break from the show that he'll have forgotten how to do his job.

There wasn't much time for a chat, however, as they had a busy show to crack on with which started with Holly and Phillip chatting about Prince Harry's tell-all interview with Tom Bradby on ITV with Camilla Tominey and Gyles Brandreth.
But once their first show of the week, and the year, was complete, Phillip took to Instagram to show what he had found in his dressing room. The TV star shared a snap showing a cactus plant that had been positioned in a certain way on top of a paper towel that had been scribbled on.
And it is clear the person responsible wanted to have a giggle as it represented a certain part of male anatomy. "@dermotoleary is this your artwork in our dressing room?" Phillip typed alongside the snap while adding a string of crying laughing emojis to show he had seen the funny side.
Meanwhile, Holly and Phillip's return to This Morning caused a divide. @christofiejames said: "About time. Respect to all the others, but they can’t carry off the serious side of the job, the interviews etc, with the expectation of Ruth & Dermot." @woodhelen23 commented: "Welcome back Holly + Phillip. Have both missed you." @marlenerichardson7502 shared: "Glad to have these two back."
But @boydwill1943 wrote: "Time for these two to be replaced." @traceymoo9 complained: "And now we have DOI every week to see them on. Josie Alison Dermot and Vernon are much better on This Morning."
